Parkhouse Review

In our Christmas edition we introduced you all to Parkhouse (formerly the Perfect Blend cafe), a recently revamped and relaunched venue for breakfast, lunch, dinner and cocktails. Parkhouse is tucked away from the busy Clapham high street, just a short walk from Clapham Common, making it a quietly fantastic choice for lazy weekend breakfasts, Sunday afternoon lunches, or a few cheeky cocktails with dinner. I have to be honest, my expectations were high for Parkhouse. The venue itself is so classy and sleek - mood lighting, amazing interior design and eye catching decorative pieces throughout - this is a place where you instantly expect the best. We were greeted by owner Paul and his team, and immediately treated to the most professional and friendly service. Those high expectations were instantly surpassed! To start my date chose peppered venison with mustard remoulade orange and hazelnut dressing, it was perfectly rare, very rich but delightfully delicate at the same time. It has been a while since I tucked into a prawn cocktail, so I made that my choice. It was a deliciously tangy retro treat, successfully whetting my appetite for mains! Being a wet miserable night outside, we were in the mood for some serious comfort food. Wild mushroom Tagliatelle and truffle oil for me, and a hearty sirloin steak with hand cut chips and peppercorn sauce for my date. All of this was washed off with a bottle of South East Australian Dry River Shiraz.

For dessert, we shared a generous serving of carrot cake with cream, and home made banoffee pie with chocolate ice cream. Lush! the perfect end to a fabulous meal. What makes Parkhouse even better is the delicatessen, which is open every day - they've certainly made regulars out of DV8!
